Narrative Review (More detail = more helpful) BACKGROUND & GOALS: My parents hired a private consultant in 2000 by the name of Ann Carol Price. I was a "special needs" with moderate depression and difficulty at school due to undiagnosed disorders. I was at the time attending a local private high school. My parents hired Mrs. Ann Carol Price to evaluate me and recommend a residential treatment center to send me to. She came up with several results, ending in LOGAN RIVER ACADEMY. I put it in caps because I want anyone who may read this to remember that name: LOGAN RIVER ACADEMY. I was sent there, all the way to Utah, on Jan. 5, 2001. Then a period of hell began in my life. I personally believe I was held as some sort of experiment-- no contact with my family except on speaker phone with the threat of a finger over the phone to cut me off if I "said or did anything that was negative towards LRA or its staff". In other words, I could only give my parents positive reports; any negativity at all and we were disconnected immediately. My story is long but I'll try to cut it a bit short: LRA separated me from the other girls on the unit. I was placed in an at the time vacant unit by myself. I was not allowed outside, and was forced to sit the entire day in a hard chair at a desk. I was given a Bible and paper, two pencils, and allowed to sharpen them only 2x a day. I lost an enormous ammount of weight in a very short time, and the nurse became concerned. I was not allowed to do laundry, the male staff picked out what I would wear for the day. I pulled staples out of the wall and used the sharp part to cut at my wrists in a half-hearted suicide attempt just to get me to a hospital where I could tell someone about the abuse since I was eventually denied mail and phone privilages. Sometimes the meals came, sometimes they didn't. LRA also witheld medication from me on several occasions, making me very ill but still forced to sit at the desk. No movement all day and my "schooling" which was originally brought to me was stopped, resulting in my repeating the 11th grade. As the weeks of this every single day went by, with a staff member always watching and sometimes pulling me out of the shower naked, I began to wear down. Then came a visit from Ann Carol Price to see how I was doing. She found me emaciated and covered in bruises (from unnecessary restraints by 5+ men) and I begged her on my hands and knees to pass the message to my parents what was happening to me was abuse and to get me out-- NOW. DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES: Let's see, services that ACP provided: She incorrectly assessed me in SC, resulting in my shipping away for torture for 7 months. She saw what was happening and turned a blind eye, never telling my parents what was happening. The LRA team had convinced them that RESULTS & FINAL THOUGHTS: She saw what was happening to me (it is important to mention that I was only the 6th girl sent to LRA as it was a brand-new institution). She knew nothing of the "school". She saw the abuse and literally turned away. My parents never got the message, and I eventually had to be transferred to a hospital in Idaho. I have since developed epilepsy and am still in therapy for LRA and Ann Carol Price did to me. If she had reported what she saw, if she had passed the message to my parents that I was unable to communicate, I would be a different and less-haunted person now. By the time I was old enough to try and pursue any damages from LRA and The Price Group, the statute of limitations was up and I was out of luck. But I still haunt the internet and try to warn everyone I can about money scamming, cold-hearted ******* like ANN CAROL PRICE AND LOGAN RIVER ACADEMY.
