This Counselor is GREAT!, Tuesday, 26 May 2009 Written by A.W.
Narrative Review (More detail = more helpful) BACKGROUND & GOALS: I did not know where to turn and a friend of mine had told me about this counselor. My child is in a local high school, and I was very concerned because I felt that counselors just did not have the time or resources to really sit down with each student they had in their class on a regular basis, and if a student is not pro active in every move ( and my child is NOT) then I needed to have someone to help cause I was ripping out the roots off my hair. This counselor was warm and totally understood what I was going through, and I did not look at other counselors because I felt very comfortable once I spoke to this woman. DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES: I worked with one counselor, and the best part is that this counselor was there for me too.. she put my nerves to rest and had me explore different options not only for my child but for me so that we could enjoy each other at home while going through this process. Her prices are very fair given the length of time required to go through this process, and she works with each student through the acceptance point, and helps them choose the school from their list of acceptances. RESULTS & FINAL THOUGHTS: My child was accepted to several UCs, but did not want the one that she got, but our counselor has told us how to deal with that issue. My child is going to be attending UC Davis, and then our counselor has agreed at no charge to help my child if she wants to transfer or to look at different ideas. This woman is fantastic! She has been there not only for my child, but for me too. She has been my guardian angel! Would you recommend this consultant or hire them again?: yes

greetings and salutations, Saturday, 27 December 2008 Written by S,M,
Narrative Review (More detail = more helpful) BACKGROUND & GOALS: I hired a counselor because it was difficult for me to work with my daughter as her mother. I choose this consultant because I knew her from previous employment and liked her work.. DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES: I worked with one counselor. She was very very knowledgeable and offered a range of ideas. The cost I thought was fair and reasonable for what it entails and the most valuable contribution was the counselor ability to tell us first hand about the different schools and match personalities. RESULTS & FINAL THOUGHTS: Thank you for working with Lena. She is so nervous about changing schools. She seems to have gotten some insight from this meeting with you and she said she was glad to be working with you. Would you recommend this consultant or hire them again?: yes

Great, Saturday, 22 December 2007 Written by Hannah
Narrative Review (More detail = more helpful) BACKGROUND & GOALS: I am an athlete and my counselor really help me find schools, her book was friendly, it did not put you down or make you feel stupid, but offered encouragement. It help put my mind into the right perspective and now I have submitted all of my applications and feel good about it.My counselor also help me address the special needs required for athletes, and while I now wait for answers, the help was really useful. DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES: The director works with every student. Sometimes, there are other counselors who assist but the director makes it her business to be on top of the program you are doing. My parents paid the fees, but they seemed to think it was fair. The most valuable thing that I got out of it was learning to be more open to the possiblities and not so narrow. RESULTS & FINAL THOUGHTS: I am waiting for my acceptances now. I am hoping to get into Northeastern. That is my #1 choice. Would you recommend this consultant or hire them again?: yes

My Counselor made my dream of going to college com, Saturday, 22 September 2007 Written by M. D.
Narrative Review (More detail = more helpful) BACKGROUND & GOALS: I met this counselor through my school counselor. I always had a dream of going to college since I was a little girl, and when my father died, I did not think it would be possible anymore. My counselor not only helped me with applications, but I received $14,000 of help from my community. I got into 8 out of 10 schools I applied to, and all 4 UCs... accepting admissions to UC Davis. Now I learn that my counselor has written a book called The Applica-Phobia of College Admissions and she is helping alot of students nationwide through technology assistance. I did not consider other consultants.. but I know that this counselor knows her stuff and got me to a point that I never thought possible, and now I am trying to help more kids like me. DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES: I worked with P J ---- but all of her staff was so helpful. One of the consultants spoke to my mother in fluent spanish so she would understand what we were doing. PJ even came to my high school graduation to present an award to me for winning a contest. RESULTS & FINAL THOUGHTS: I was admitted to UC Davis, UC Irvine, UC Santa Cruz, UC Riverside, University of the Pacific, Holy Names, USC and Cal Poly. Would you recommend this consultant or hire them again?: yes

This consultant gave our son the best advice!, Monday, 14 May 2007 Written by Joe Hartley
Narrative Review (More detail = more helpful) BACKGROUND & GOALS: Our son was stressing out over the pressure of early action and early decision binding vs. binging schools. He attended one of the very elite High Schools in the Los Angeles Area and was trying to decide where to apply and all the "what ifs" that go with such a decision. I found the service through the school, and this counselor knew the material and had alot of really good ideas. We were new to the Los Angeles Area, and there was not alot of time to interview other counselors. DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES: This is a full service admissions company, and it is growing. They provided a full package of all services to us, and the cost was rather reasonable. The most important contribution was how to evaluate the various schools and how streamlined the process has been made. RESULTS & FINAL THOUGHTS: University of Penn, Stanford, USC, etc. --Going to Stanford. Counselor offered great insight! Would you recommend this consultant or hire them again?: yes
